Check out getting checked out on the Familia blog. Remember crew real heads are down for you too. Corduroy supports that kind of attitude, it's all Familia!
Monday is happening, summers (what we've had) is giving way to back to school, the state fair, two issues deep in the snow-mag game, bountiful dreams of first chairs, video premiers around the corner, let us revel in these few August days left.

Rich has been sliding snowboards in Northern Michigan for many moons. His pursuit of winter has even taken him to Tahoe, California to shred with friends and film. I meet Rich in Tahoe after a few emails, about shred skills and sponsorship dreams. We hooked up one day in March at Northstar and as promised, he produced free tickets to ride for Wolfe and I (awesome). So we head up the lifts and get to the crazy runs of park features that Northstar offers. I mean at this point it's just a little surreal, between meeting new homie with free tickets, being on a shred mission to Tahoe, all the great snow we already had rode, and this crazy park resort. So the session is on and we start riding the medium park jump line. 20ft to 30ft stepdowns so not huge but they're pretty boosty for my flavor. So after landing low on these a few runs we start to dial in some, dropping in Rich just drops underflip out of no where, stomp! Wolfe and I are hyped the energy level just boosted and while we weren't dropping sw 7 to back him up, the riding was fired up none the less. The session was fun and a new friendship formed on the snow.
Years later Rich has been a shop rider, shop employee, regional rider and in the last few years has stepped up to tech rep (for lack of term). He's been on the trail, started to log miles in the van, found a girl and got a dog, all while holding it down on the streets and slopes. OG comes to mind when I think of Rich. Just a good Midwestern rider who's paid some dues, chased some snow, and made others hyped to ride for years.
Rich has been sharing here.

Dues have been payed in the city streets and by the sounds of it in the Whistler backcountry this past season. Looking forward to his part in "This Video Sucks" which will be for free download 09.09.09 at the site UHHSON! Joe also is planning on helping coach The Foundation Snowboard Camp this winter at Buckhill.

"For the third year in a row, Rome SDS has encouraged local riders to grab their friends, grab their cheap digital video cameras, go shred, and get it on film.
The Local GNAR celebrates, promotes and publishes videos from local scenes around the world. This season we got stacks of videos from all across the US and Canada, and even our first entry from Japan.
The entries this season were awesome. They were super creative, had great editing, great snowboarding, and had what stokes us out the most, crews of riders genuinely having a good time on shred. So many videos made us anxious for the season to start, it made judging really difficult.
Although we’d love to send some boards and a stack of cash out to all the entrants, here are the top three who took the honors.
In third place was Ryan Wonfor, scoring three pairs of 2010 Rome 390 bindings, five pairs of Rome gloves and ten limited edition GNAR T’s.
In second place is Jeff Cormack out of Boulder, Colorado, his crew had some legit riding, and super solid backcountry stuff. Jeff scored two 2010 Rome Artifacts, three pairs of 390 bindings, five pairs of Rome gloves and ten limited edition GNAR T’s.
Winning the third annual Local GNAR contest is Kevin Castanheira and his crew out of Canton, Ohio. The “crew” vibe in this film was awesome. It really felt like you were watching a group of friends have a blast all winter long. For all his efforts, we’ll be sending Kevin two new Artifacts, three pairs of 390 bindings, twenty limited edition GNAR shirts and a THOUSAND BUCKS.
“This contest represents everything that’s right with snowboarding right now. First and foremost it was loaded with kids submitting videos of their crews having fun. There were kids on road trips, night riding, backflips in the backcountry, and even an entry from Japan. All of these videos embodied the spirit of the GNAR video, fun and riding with friends. In the end there may have been a few clear winners, but there were many, many more who were clearly having a great time snowboarding, and that’s the most important thing” – John Cavan - Rome TM/Kids on Shred Director
A huge thanks to all the crews who put the time in to make a video this past season and send it in. There were a ton of great videos, and some definite honorable mentions.
Keep an eye on www.romesnowboards.com, where we’ll be posting ALL of the entries from this past season when the new site launches, so you can check all of them out and do some judging for yourself."
So yeah First and Third for the middle. Stoked on all the crews who submit, if your crew wants to submit next year. DO IT! Make, Wizards, i'd love to see you guys throw down a fun edit for this.

Super stoked on the effort by all the SDS invovled on this project. To watch it you have to buy the whole thing from I tunes.
It's a solid buy, all the movies sans the B$@* one are good. So if your fending some new riding might be worther it to you.
Here's the teaser for the Rome submission Titled "A Hard Days Night"

So this went down yesterday, the intent was to post this JPG last week and go once I got home from the darkside (MI, IN, OH). Well Victor called and we were going to link up. I got home unloaded and called Victor, no dice, hit Bovee to see where he was at, out of town. Hit Victor again and again no answer. So feeling at this point, the long drive of the day (9 hours, dig) and with no one to pull me downtown, I passed. OOOOPPPPSSSS.
Super bummed. Well The Hesh was there and filmed it looked dope. Big ups to Dennis at Cal, and shout out to Aaron for that BS3.
Update some photo's came over the World Wide Web (web-think about that, we're all trapped).
Cj, Aaron, and Dan, make that cash in pocket.
