Sad Stuff-R.I.P. Van Wastell

Taken From Skate Daily-

"There are no confirmed details at this time, but it is with profound sadness that we report of the untimely death of Van Wastell. He was just 24 years old and had just turned pro and was definitely one of the true originals. Van will be greatly missed!"

New Info From Matix Clothing

"There are some things in life you can never prepare for. I received a call from DLX's Jim Thiebaud yesterday, his voice calm but unsteady. What he went on to tell me was seemingly unbelievable. On Friday Sept. 5th, Van Wastell fell from a Berlin hotel window to his death. This is devastating news for all of us here at Matix, as Van was our friend, our team rider and a close homie of mine. I don't know what else to say other than we will miss the fuck out Van, he will continue his journey in mind and spirit. Our hearts goes out to the Wastell family during this time of confusion and sadness. WE ALREADY MISS YOU MUCH VAN..."

Rest in Peace.

In SD still well get here.

Under the Influence - A Shred Carpet Affair

Bluebird and the Rome SDS are teaming up at the annual Socal Bro-down to give you a night worth remembering. Well, maybe you’ll remember it, maybe you won’t.
On September 4th 2008, during the ASR tradeshow in San Diego, the two like-minded brands will get together to show the world their unique perspectives on snowboarding through film—the Bluebird Movie and No Correct Way. There will be no dress code, no ski-brand bar tab, no proper etiquette and no mobile phone company sponsor. What there will be are two of the rawest, most progressive and most fun-to-watch snowboard films of the year. And of course some free beer and a shotgun or two.
Though one is from Jackson and the other is from Northern Vermont, Bluebird and Rome SDS both come from a value system that is influenced by methods, first chairs, face shots and the lives of resort-town ghetto kids. And when the films start running, their ideas on what is important to snowboarding comes through as loudly as LNP’s floral hippie shirt.
So leave your suits and fancy shoes at home and come hang with the blue collar of snowboarding. And to check out this year’s movies that best capture what snowboarding is really about—fun with friends who understand.

Stearns Co

Wolfe made the trek to The Red Carpet.

Pettit pumped on Ten Years of The Youth Shelter Supply.

Ezra manned the mic and may have found a new career.

Riley pumped up the jam, nothings new. He also made his transformation from Nike head to Flannel guy.

Brisse in the mix with proper stuff.

Anthony was shy but if you want to see his other Art go here.

Nick's been holding it down on the Signal front. He came to see the countless young shreds rippin his stuff.

Dummers back from the west good shit.

Whoa where's Tarah.

Olson and Justin Hyped and should be Bald E Gal flick was sick.

I think Tnuts on the mic but the party people are in effect.

Hey heads in the house.

Tommy has been surfing the Great Breaks of Duluth.

Jonas and Joe are about to explode. Olson feels the heat.

Simco and Larson enjoying the evening.

Both movies the are the cats PJ's. While they offer different takes they both have some heavy shredding. Bad Idea's has plenty of rail mastery and great parts. While Tree Please offers more of a season of riding' take, with back story and a broader scope of locations. Thanks to The Youth Shelter Supply for holding it down for specialty shops in the Midwest. Congratulations go out to both film crews for once again creating great films. I suggest purchasing these flicks for your collection of shredding DVD's.
